His daily life changed drastically when the war between Israel and Hamas broke out in early October. “We fled from the first day because our neighborhood was completely destroyed,” laments Mohammed. His house had just been rebuilt, after being devastated for the first time in 2014 “by the Israelis”, according to him.

After leaving Beit Hanoun, this family settled “in a school in Jabaliya camp”, in the north of the Gaza Strip. A refugee camp that the Israeli army admitted to having bombed at the end of October, saying it had killed a Hamas commander. Mohammed then describes a “nightmare” made up of “massive, almost random bombings”. He and his family were finally able to leave after 45 days. They are now in Rafah, on the border with Egypt. “Every time we move, we leave all our luggage behind,” he says.
