Lloret de Mar City Council will launch this one july THE guided tours for the shooting scenes of House of the Dragon (the house of the dragon). HBO fiction chose the gardens of Santa Clotildand to locate part of the exteriors of the palace of King’s Landing. Now, visitors will be able to recreate some of these scenes by walking around the actual set and comparing them to images from the series. In addition, the town hall’s Heritage Area has designed a scenography that recreates part of the world of the series on the HBO platform and also of its successor, Game of Thrones (game of thrones). The visit can be made every friday and will have “a hybrid format” between guided and theatrical tour.
The gardens of Santa Clotilde hosted the filming of several scenes of the series House of the Dragon in the fall of 2021. Now, the municipality of Lloret de Mar wants to take advantage of the success of this series to develop the “shooting tourism“. The manager of Lloret Turisme, Elizabeth Keegan, recalled that since the Lloret Film Office was founded, around forty films and series have been filmed in the Costa Brava municipality.
One of the most recognized has been that of the series House of the Dragon, who chose the gardens of Santa Clotilde. during ten days the gardens were closed to the public, although no details were given at the time of what production was being filmed there. With absolute secrecy, several of the protagonists of thespin-off of Game of Thrones they arrived in Lloret de Mar to record several scenes there.
Now, after the series was broadcast in the fall of 2022, the Lloret de Mar City Council has decided to exploit the popularity of the fiction to create a guided tour of the gardens. It will be done in a “hybrid format” that combines the guided tour that day dramatized. The goal is for people to see the scenarios that were the set of the first season of House of the Dragon. To do this, visitors will walk through the locations that were used for filming and at the same time view images from the series so that they can compare how it looked on TV and how it is in reality.
Scenography of the fictional world
In most spaces the modifications have been rather few and the spaces can be easily recognized. People interested in making the visits will be able to tour the gardens of Santa Clotilde set in the fictional world every Friday from the month of July. In addition, the Heritage Area of Lloret de Mar City Council has prepared several scenography elements that “form part of the imagination” of the world of Game of Thrones i House of the Dragon.
With this scenery, the intention is that visitors can “create their own content” related to the series and upload it to social networks. Keegan, who did not want to give more details of this setting to maintain the surprise, recalled that through the content that visitors upload to the networks, they will be able to promote this new tourist product.
