The writer Lluís Balsells is inspired by the film Too late the Dennis Hack for his new novel, Too late. After the novels Diagonal (2019), Danielandia (2021) and the collection of stories The imprecision of the thresholds (2022), the author born in Lleida and resident in Girona for years publishes a novel with the publishing house Trípode in which recovers a practically extinct tradition, the art of explaining films.

The narrator projects himself into Mel Sampson, the protagonist of this suspense film, and he takes advantage of fiction to link it with his own life. He makes a written transcription of the events that happen in the film and, based on cinephile winks, many cinematographic references and ironic dialogue, he reconstructs his day-to-day life.

The foreword is in charge of the journalist and film critic Imma Merino.

Balsells presents Too late this Tuesday afternoon at 7, at bookstore 22 in Girona. He will be accompanied by the writer, photographer and editor Quim Curbet.
