Manuel Carrasco and Jordi Évole kicked off the new season of Lo de Évole with a pub meeting in London, though their attempts at ordering beers proved somewhat comical, as previewed in a more than two-minute clip released ahead of Sunday’s broadcast. “Not even with the two of us together we make one,” Carrasco quipped with a laugh, acknowledging the linguistic challenges.

The duo’s onstage banter continued, with Évole attempting to introduce a song titled “ninety nine and five hundred…” before being playfully interrupted by Carrasco, who declared,”Tell you something? I’m the only one who understands you, buddy.”

A Global Language and a Proud Flamenco Spirit

Despite language barriers, music transcends borders, and carrasco’s connection with his audience is a testament to that. He responded with characteristic modesty, stating, “I wouldn’t even want you to interview me.” He explained that he believes he’s had to win over your audience person by person, “one by one.”

From ‘Operation Triumph’ to Owning His Rights

Carrasco reflected on his experience with Operation Triumph, acknowledging, “I believe that no one who comes out of a program like this comes out fully well.” He also revealed a frustrating reality about his early work: despite writing his first songs independently after the contest, half of the rights to these first songs are not theirs.

When asked if he would revisit ‘OT,’ Carrasco responded without hesitation, “Knowing what I know today, no.”

The pair engaged in a lighthearted game of “I never,” with Carrasco playfully admitting, “I have never seen Évole.”
