CARRARA. You participated in Sanremo as co-author of Big Mama, writing together the song “Anger is not enough for you”. She is Maria Lodovica Lazzerini, 24 years old, musician from Carrara who with this song made herself known to the general public as an author (now published with Bmg Rights Management Italy of Milan) thanks also to an artistic path made of study and passion. We interviewed her to learn more about the emotions she has felt in recent weeks. An emotional journey, which allowed her to take flight in the world of music that she counts, but which began in the shadow of the Apuan Alps, where at an early age she had already demonstrated that she had the makings of an artist, even just in performances in high school. That extra factor about her, which allowed her to arrive as an author at one of the most important music festivals in the world, already achieving great personal and professional satisfaction.

When and how did you start making music?

«I started when I was really very young, around the age of 6. One morning, after having a dream, I went to my mother and said: “Mom, I want to learn to play the guitar”. From there I started lessons and by the second one I already had a band. I was just 6 years old: everyone was completely enthusiastic and not rationally aware, but the feeling was beautiful. My journey began from there: then, in middle school, I also started studying piano, until at 13, out of a total need to communicate what my shyness inhibited, I started writing what I felt. And I never stopped. I started my artistic project, which I continued until last year and now I dedicate myself exclusively to writing lyrics and melodies.”

How did it feel to hear your name mentioned on the Sanremo stage?

«Hearing it spoken by Amadeus was truly the realization of a dream. A fundamental stage, which meant that I received confirmation of my work, and this really gave me a lot of energy. Plus, hearing my name next to Marianna’s (BigMama, ndc) was twice as nice. I owe her so much for giving me this chance. The session in which we wrote “Anger is not enough for you” was magical, full of love, tenderness and intimacy: the right sensations to deal with the delicate topic we are talking about.”

Is there an artist you would like to collaborate with as a co-author?

«Coming from the singer-songwriter/indie pop world, for me it would be a dream to write in a session with Calcutta, but also many other Italian artists».

Current projects and future projects?

«I don’t think about it that much, I live it by letting myself be carried away a little by what happens and experiencing everything very serenely. If things are meant to happen, they will happen. I stopped having too high expectations and living only according to big events to mark time. I promised myself that for my authorial project I would take things much more spontaneously, but put in maximum effort.”
