New Delhi: At present, election atmosphere is being seen everywhere in the country. Political parties have started campaigning vigorously. Meanwhile, an alert from a senior officer of Border Security Force (BSF) has come to light. He has said that as the snow melts in Jammu and Kashmir and big events like general elections are announced, infiltration attempts from across the Line of Control (LoC) increase. However, the officer also said that the security forces are fully alert and are capable of foiling any infiltration attempt. Inspector General (IG) Kashmir Border of Border Security Force (BSF) Ashok Yadav said that ‘Our BSF Deployed with the Army on the Line of Control (LoC) of Jammu and Kashmir. Elections are a very important time and we are prepared to foil any infiltration attempt from across the border. Our patrolling in the area is intensified so that complete control is maintained. Ashok Yadav said that attempts of infiltration across the border always happen, but they increase more during big events like elections. Therefore, in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BSF and Army are fully alert and ready to foil any infiltration attempt.

‘Melting of snow also increases infiltration attempts’

IG of Border Security Force (BSF) said that infiltration attempts increase not only during big events on the border of Jammu and Kashmir, but also due to melting of snow in the months of April and May. Ashok Yadav further said that ‘We have planned to take complete control over those areas. We have made a map of vulnerable areas and security forces will increase patrolling in those areas accordingly. Our soldiers are fully capable of foiling any infiltration attempt. However, 65 companies of Border Security Force (BSF) along with Jammu and Kashmir Police are deployed in the interior areas of the valley to maintain security.

BSF patrolling increased on LOC

Ashok Yadav said that ‘about 65 companies of Border Security Force (BSF) are deployed in the north, south and central areas of Kashmir. Along with Jammu and Kashmir Police, they are strengthening the security arrangements and increasing patrolling in the area. We will make every effort to conduct the elections peacefully. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Voting will be held in seven phases, starting from April 19 and ending on June 1. Voting will be held in Jammu and Kashmir on May 20 during the fifth phase. Counting of votes across the country will take place on June 4.
