British Foreign Secretary David Cameron will deliver a speech on Thursday calling on NATO members to allocate 2.5% of their gross domestic product to military spending to confront various challenges around the world.

In the speech, excerpts of which were published by the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday night and which it described as “important,” Cameron will urge his country’s allies to follow his country’s example and increase their military spending.
Last April, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced an increase in the Kingdom’s military spending from 2.3% to 2.5% by 2030.
In his speech, the British Minister will stress that “after that, we must set 2.5% as a new reference point for all new NATO allies,” stressing the importance of cooperation and innovation. As for Cameron, “If Putin’s illegal attack on Ukraine teaches us anything, it is that doing too little and too late will only incite the aggressor,” he said.
