Longford Gang War Escalates: Two Men Hospitalized After Knife Attacks
A violent clash between two rival gangs in Longford, Ireland, has left two men hospitalized with serious injuries and sparked fears of escalating reprisals. The incidents, which unfolded on the evening of February 9th, 2026, involved knife attacks and culminated in one injured man being abandoned outside a Garda station.
Escalation of Violence
Armed Gardaí responded to reports of a violent altercation in Longford town around 9:00 PM on Monday. Initial investigations revealed that two men attacked each other with knives in the Teffia Park estate. Following the assault, one man, suffering from slash injuries to his hands, was reportedly driven to and left outside Longford Garda Station. The other man sustained severe slash injuries to his face.
“Gardaí are investigating following an alleged incident of assault that occurred in the Longford Town area on Monday 9th February, 2026 at approximately 9pm,” a Garda spokesperson stated to the Irish Mirror.
Both injured men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were transported to Mullingar Hospital for treatment. While the injuries sustained by the man slashed in the face are described as horrific, authorities have confirmed they are not life-threatening. The second man’s injuries are believed to be less severe.
Drug-Related Feud
Law enforcement officials believe the attacks are linked to an ongoing feud between two criminal organizations – one based in Longford Town and the other with connections in Dublin. The dispute is reportedly centered around control of the local drug trade. Recent weeks have seen a surge in related criminal activity, including instances of shots fired and vehicles set ablaze.
According to sources within the Gardaí, the events of February 9th represent a dangerous escalation of the conflict. “We fear reprisals over this shocking incident, and that the feud will only escalate,” one official stated. The deployment of the Garda Armed Response Unit to the area underscores the seriousness of the situation.

Gardaí are actively seeking information from the public regarding the incident. They are specifically requesting that anyone who witnessed the attacks, or who may have relevant camera footage – including dashcam recordings – from the vicinity of Teffia Park on February 9th, come forward.
