Here is an incident where a company’s policy has significantly affected the customer and makes headlines. The incident took place in Middlesburg, England.

Thirty-seven-year-old William Wilfred, who was ill, ordered some food from Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s largest food chains. William, who has diabetes and cystic fibrosis, ordered because it was difficult for him to go out and buy groceries.

But when the order arrived, the delivery agent refused to deliver it to William. The delivery was denied on the grounds that it did not look old. The agent also asked him to show his ID card. The delivery was canceled after the ID card could not be shown.

William says he even offered to show his birth certificate. But the agent insisted that as per the company policy, the ID card itself should be shown. This is why he decided to return the goods.

After the delivery was cancelled, the company refunded the money. But the unusual incident has made headlines. With this, the company has announced an investigation into the incident. The company also said it deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to William.
