Lorient Faces Injury Concerns Ahead of Sunday’s Ligue 1 Clash with Nice
Lorient is navigating a fluctuating injury situation as they prepare to host OGC Nice on Sunday at 5:15 p.m., with several key players’ availability remaining uncertain. Despite a brief period earlier in the week where the entire squad was in training, the team’s medical staff are still working to get players back to full fitness.
Recent Setbacks Disrupt Positive Momentum
The positive momentum of a fully fit squad was short-lived for FC Lorient. Midfielder Isaac Touré sustained a strained hamstring while playing with the reserve team against Bordeaux in a 0-2 defeat. The coach indicated Touré will be sidelined for “a few weeks,” pending confirmation from further medical examinations.
Key Players Nearing Return
However, there is encouraging news on other fronts. Players returning from injury, including Panos Katseris and Bandiougou Fatigue, are scheduled to participate in a friendly match with the reserve team on Saturday morning as part of their rehabilitation process.
Kouassi and Meïté Expected to Feature
Arsène Kouassi, who suffered an ankle injury midweek, and Bamo Meïté, who experienced discomfort in his adductors during a Thursday training session, are both expected to be available for selection against Nice. A team spokesperson reassured that both players “will be present tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon with us for the preparation of the match against Nice.”
Sanusi Progressing Towards Full Reintegration
Englishman Trevan Sanusi is also making positive strides in his recovery. He has already resumed partial training with the main group and is anticipated to be fully reintegrated into the squad next week.
