Loss in average corn productivity in Tocantins should reach 20%, says leadership

With the delay in the soybean harvest due to rains during the works, around 60% of the areas dedicated to safrinha corn in Tocantins were sown outside the ideal window, according to the director of Aprosoja Brasil, Maurício Buffon. He explains that, normally, the average grain productivity in the State is around 90 to 100 bags per hectare, but that this year there should be a loss of 20%.

According to the leadership, most of the corn in Tocantins is in the grain filling phase, and April was a month of irregular rainfall. In addition to the loss in productivity, there is concern about the trade-off between production costs and the selling price, since this year there were 30% to 40% less deals closed for corn in advance.

Another point highlighted by Buffon is the logistical bottleneck, since there is still a lot of soybeans to leave the state, and with the perspective that, within 30 days, the corn harvest will already be at an accelerated pace, the flow of grains will be impaired.

TAXATION

According to the director of Aprosoja Brasil, Maurício Buffon, the preliminary injunction obtained by the Association of Soy and Corn Producers of Tocantins (Aprosoja) that suspends the law that increased the charge of the State Transport Fund (FET), which was 0, 2% on the value of the operation on the invoice, which, due to the change in legislation, would increase to 1.2%.

“We think that it (tribute) is unconstitutional, because it is double-taxed… The Government appealed and now we are waiting for the final judgment of this process”, said Buffon.
