Chow Yun-fat Supports Veteran Singer Lu Haipeng Ahead of Tsim Sha Tsui Concert

A testament to enduring camaraderie, Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-fat publicly supported singer Lu Haipeng prior to his “Ming Jin Shu Mi” concert held at the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Center on January 27, 2026. The veteran actor’s gesture underscores the strong bonds within Hong Kong’s entertainment industry and highlights the importance of mentorship and encouragement.

Chow Yun-fat’s Encouragement and Lu Haipeng’s Fitness Regime

Before the performance, Chow Yun-fat made a special visit to the concert group, presenting Lu Haipeng with a traditional red envelope – a symbol of good luck and prosperity – and wishing him a successful show. According to reports, Chow Yun-fat playfully questioned Lu Haipeng, saying, “Hey, do it once a year, why not stop singing!” while simultaneously praising the singer’s continued energy and vitality.

Lu Haipeng, 84, revealed that maintaining his stamina is crucial to his performances. “I don’t have to run with him now,” he stated, referring to Chow Yun-fat. “I run by myself every morning. If I don’t run, how can I make a sound? If I don’t run, I will have no energy. After running, I will have enough breath and sound, and I won’t even get sick.” He noted that Chow Yun-fat’s dedication to marathon running currently prevents them from running together, but acknowledged the actor’s busy schedule.

Grief and Remembrance Following the Loss of Bruce Leung

The concert preparations were tempered by the recent and unexpected passing of martial arts star Bruce Leung. Lu Haipeng expressed his shock and sadness, recalling his close friendship with the late actor. “I knew him very well. We usually drink tea in Mong Kok. I was so surprised when I heard the news because he could do (kung fu) and was in good health,” he shared.

Lu Haipeng also mentioned a brief involvement in a new film project directed by Johnnie To, but filming has been temporarily suspended with an uncertain resumption date. “I don’t know if I have such a long wait. Some things are hard to talk about,” he commented.

Industry Support and Lu Haipeng’s Daily Routine

Fellow actors Huang Rihua and Miao Qiaowei were also present, offering their support to Lu Haipeng. They were lauded for their consistent care for their senior colleague, even previously assisting with his running routine. However, Miao Qiaowei explained that they now allow Lu Haipeng to run independently, recognizing his dedication. “Now he runs by himself. It is very convenient to run downstairs in the house. He runs for an hour every day,” Miao Qiaowei said.

Huang Rihua, Miao Qiaowei, and Qi Meizhen demonstrated their respect for Lu Haipeng by attending the worship ceremony held before the concert on January 26, 2026. Chow Yun-fat also actively engaged with the group, taking selfies and extending his best wishes for a successful concert.

The enduring relationships and mutual support within Hong Kong’s entertainment community were on full display, offering a poignant reminder of the value of camaraderie and mentorship.
