Luís Montenegro was appointed Prime Minister of Portugal after winning the legislative elections on March 10 at the head of the moderate right-wing Democratic Alliance, the Presidency announced in a statement published in the early hours of this Thursday (21, Wednesday night in Brasília).

This 51-year-old lawyer, with parliamentary training, succeeds the socialist António Costa, in power since the end of 2015, but will not have a stable majority in Parliament and will have to come to terms with a rising far right.
