Meet the Judges

Ángeles González-Sinde, a celebrated Spanish screenwriter and film director, currently serves as president of the royal Board of Trustees of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. She previously held the position of Minister of Culture for the Spanish Government from 2009 to 2011.

Elena Medel is a critically acclaimed writer whose work has been translated into fifteen languages. Her novel, The Wonders, won the Francisco Umbral Award for Book of the Year in 2020.

Clara Obligado, born in Buenos Aires and now residing in Madrid, is a novelist, essayist, and a pioneer in creative writing instruction in Spain. She herself was a recipient of the Lumen women’s Novel Award in 1996 for Marx’s Daughter.

Lola Larumbe, director of the Rafael Alberti bookstore, has transformed the space into a cultural hub in Madrid, earning numerous accolades including the Liber Prize for best cultural bookstore in 2019.

María Fasce, Lumen’s literary director, brings thirty years of experience as an editor and a celebrated writer in her own right, having won awards for her short stories and novels.
