TFT’s Festival of Beasts Returns for Lunar Revel, Bringing Classic Gameplay and New Surprises

A beloved era of Teamfight Tactics is making a triumphant return. Festival of Beasts, widely considered an all-time classic set, will be available for Lunar Revel, offering both veteran players and newcomers a chance to experience – and rediscover – its unique strategic depth. Developers promise surprises for all levels of experience, building upon the foundation of the original “OG fortune” with modern enhancements.

Revitalizing the “Chosen” Mechanic

At the heart of Festival of Beasts lies the Chosen mechanic. This system introduces powerful units appearing in shops every four rounds. However, acquiring a Chosen unit requires a strategic decision: passing on a Chosen unit grants the next one with a trait aligned to the one you skipped. For example, passing on an Enlightened Talon means the next Chosen Talon offered will be an Assassin Talon.

Further rules govern the Chosen mechanic:

  • passing on a Chosen unit temporarily removes that champion from shop rotations for several rounds.
  • Players with more than four copies of a 4-cost unit or three copies of a 5-cost unit will be ineligible to see the Chosen version. this restriction does not apply to 1/2/3-cost champions.
  • A minimum of three copies of a champion must remain in the shared pool for them to appear as a Chosen unit.

Understanding the shared bag sizes is also critical for strategic planning:

  • 1-cost units: 50 copies
  • 2-cost units: 40 copies
  • 3-cost units: 30 copies
  • 4-cost units: 12 copies
  • 5-cost units: 10 copies

Augments Enhance Strategic Depth

While absent from the original Festival of Beasts, Augments were successfully integrated in a previous revival and will return for this iteration. These powerful bonuses offer unique strategic pathways. Examples include:

  • Growing Roots: Elderwood units gain Maximum Health based on the number of rounds they’ve remained in their starting hex.
  • The Fabled One: Wukong is designated a Fabled unit, receiving increased ability power and a guaranteed 2-star level.
  • Cult’s Offerings: Galio gains permanent health for every 40 Gold a player possesses during the planning phase.

developers hinted at additional Augments, encouraging players to explore the Revival to uncover them all.

New Opening Encounters Add Dynamic starts

Opening Encounters, a modern TFT feature, will also be featured, offering players unique advantages at the start of each game. Exclusive encounters for the Revival include:

  • Carousel of Vitality: Provides extra loot at an accelerated pace.
  • Off To The Races: Challenges players to predict the race winner for valuable rewards.
  • Fireworks Show: Collecting fireworks yields additional loot.
  • Growing Prosperity: Upgrades the item anvil each stage, increasing the potential for powerful items.
  • Year of the Horse: A lucky horse traverses the player’s bench, offering rewards along the way.

The Revival Ladder and Exclusive Rewards

The Revival Ladder is also making a comeback, offering players the opportunity to earn prestigious rewards. These include Realm Crystals, Treasure Tokens, and the coveted Oracle and Visionary borders – exclusive cosmetic items to showcase player achievement.

Players are encouraged to team up with friends, family, or rivals and dive into Revival: Festival of Beasts. See you all in the Convergence!
