“Lidian Armenia” announces the reopening of the sample preparation, analytical, scientific chemical laboratory in the Gorayk community of Syunik.

The laboratory has been operating in Gorayk since 2007. As a result of the prolonged lawlessness around Amulsar, the laboratory was closed and many of the employees emigrated. It was here that the preparation of borehole samples for analytical analysis and the determination of volumetric weight, as well as the modeling work of acid rock drainage management, were carried out under the supervision of the best foreign experts. As a result of these works, for the first time in Armenia, the internationally accepted technology of the passive treatment plant will be introduced in the framework of acid rock drainage management. This unique laboratory for Armenia used the most advanced environmental practices from the construction phase of Amulsar, while training young professionals.

Thanks to the Amulsar project, Gorayk was one of the exceptional rural communities where young people had the opportunity to acquire new professional knowledge, receive appropriate higher education with the funding of “Lidian Armenia”, become certified specialists and work with international high-level specialists.

Today, this important laboratory for Gorayk has been reopened with the prospect of operating at full capacity in the future. “Lydian Armenia” aims to apply for international certification of the laboratory, after which it will already offer its services to companies in the mining industry and other sectors, including acid drainage management.

In the video, the residents of Gorayk tell about the difficult social situation and emigration created in the community as a result of the lawlessness of the last two years. We also present footage from the laboratory that reopened after almost two years of inactivity.
