Boosting AI Capabilities and Storage

The integration of a Neural Accelerator in every core of the M5 chip is a key differentiator, promising up to four times faster performance for AI tasks compared to the previous M4 MacBook Air, according to Apple. This improvement is particularly relevant as users increasingly rely on AI-powered applications, and features. The M5 likewise boasts enhanced shader cores and a third-generation ray-tracing engine, alongside faster unified memory with 153GB/s of bandwidth – a 28% increase over the M4. These enhancements collectively contribute to a more responsive and efficient user experience, especially when handling demanding workloads.

Beyond processing power, Apple has also focused on connectivity. The new MacBook Air incorporates the N1 wireless chip, supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for seamless wireless performance. Pre-orders for the new MacBook Air with M5 begin Wednesday, March 4, with laptops expected to ship on Wednesday, March 11. The 13.6-inch model starts at $1,100, while the 15.3-inch version begins at $1,300. These prices represent a $100 increase over the starting prices of the previous M4 models, reflecting the upgraded components and increased base storage.
