Centenarian Madge Healy Remembered with Affection Following Peaceful Passing in Kilkenny
A remarkable life concluded peacefully on December 12th, 2025, with the passing of Madge Healy (née Keane) at the age of 100, in the compassionate care of Drakelands Nursing Home in Kilkenny. Healy, a longtime resident of Lismartin, Castlecomer Rd., Kilkenny, and formerly of Town View House, Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny, leaves behind a legacy of family and community.
A Life Spanning a Century
Born into a world vastly different from today’s, Madge Healy witnessed a century of profound change. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Healy, and her sons, Martin and Pius Healy, as well as her parents, Mary-Anne and Martin Keane, and siblings Mary, Nellie, Nancy, Sr. Gabriel, and Bertie. Her passing marks the end of an era for those who knew and loved her.
Family and Community Mourn
Madge Healy is survived by her son, Nicholas Healy, daughters Martha and Thérèse, sons-in-law Brian and Brendan, and her son Nicholas’ partner, Margaret. She was a beloved grandmother to Siobhán and her partner Jack, Niamh, Brian, Seán, and Aidan, and will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and neighbors. The staff and fellow residents of Drakelands Nursing Home also join in mourning her loss.
A family member stated, “Her warmth and spirit touched everyone she met.”
Funeral Arrangements and Remembrance
Reposing will take place at Johnston’s Funeral Home, Kilkenny (Eircode R95 XEOO) on Sunday evening, December 14th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Following this, her remains will be removed from her residence at Lismartin, Castlecomer Rd., Kilkenny, on Monday morning for a Requiem Mass at the Church of the Assumption, Urlingford, commencing at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at St. Kieran’s Cemetery, Johnstown.
