The road system of the canton and the province needs maintenance, it has always been “pointed at by citizens at all levels of government, due to the dire state of the roads, not to mention the state highways.
Situation. On repeated occasions it has been mentioned that the state of these hinders the marketing processes of products that go from Chimborazo to other cities and provinces, as well as affects travel times on highways such as the Balbanera-Pallatanga-Cumandá.
Reality. One of the ‘most decent’ routes, according to users, is the one that connects with the center and the north, it is the only one that does not present great difficulties; however, in sections such as Calpi, these days it is intervened by the GADP-Ch.
Details. The works began on Tuesday, according to Lourdes Guamán, president of the Calpi Parish Council: they put a double treatment on the road, they work with machinery from the Junta and the Prefecture, which also provided the material. It should be remembered that by the end of this year the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) would work in surrounding areas.
Places. In other parishes, such as Santa Fe de Galán, in the same way, they have worked on the tracks. In the rainy seasons, this town has suffered ravages, since there were floods that affected homes and, therefore, the roads, and this occurred in the months of December of the previous year and in May.
Actions. With the machinery of the Provincial Council they intervened between seven and ten kilometers.
Sepal. In the road accesses of this sector there were subsidences, they filled them in, cleaned the ravines, widened the road and in certain sectors they made ditches for the drainage of rainwater. Being third-level roads, they have leveled them and have an appreciation of adequate service.
Actions. So far it has been seen that the acquired machinery is useful for different areas of Chimborazo.
