The alarm came at 20.42 on Friday. The incident has occurred at the bridge between Vänersborg and Vargön. A major rescue effort is underway, led by the emergency services.
– Boats and drones have been used and two helicopters are on their way to participate in the search. No person has been found in the water yet, said Caroline Karlsson at the police at 9.50pm.
The person must have stood on the bridge and then somehow plunged into the water. The police think they know who the person is.
At 22.40 the police write that a person has been found in the water and has been taken to hospital by ambulance. The extent of the injuries is unclear, according to the police. The effort is finished.
