Chennai – Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Tamils when he reached Tamil Nadu where the ‘Hindi Theriyat, Poda’ campaign and Tamil language sentiments are on fire. Amit Shah said that Tamil is one of the oldest languages in the world and that is why he requested the government to make medical education and technical education in the state in Tamil. He also did not forget to praise higher education in the mother tongue.
Amit Shah was speaking at the platinum jubilee celebration of India Cements in Chennai. Shah’s reaction comes at a time when Tamil Nadu is raising allegations that the BJP government is trying to impose Hindi.
After Amit Shah’s statement that English should be replaced by Hindi and people in different states should talk to each other in Hindi, the DMK started the ‘Hindi Theriyat Poda’ campaign in Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister Stalin also came out against the move to impose Hindi.
