The Malaysian government has decided to abolish the mandatory death penalty for crimes committed.
In Malaysia, the death penalty has been used for crimes such as murder, drug trafficking, terrorism, human trafficking and possession of deadly weapons.
But there were calls for alternative punishments to replace this forced execution.
The cabinet has decided to abolish the death penalty, according to a report by a panel set up to look into the matter.
