Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the beloved actor known for his role on “The Cosby Show,” is set to make his final onscreen appearance.
Warner tragically drowned in Costa Rica in july at the age of 54. his posthumous role will be featured in Season 2 of the Fox mystery series “Murder in a Small Town.” He guest stars in episode 3, titled “Mother Love,” airing Oct. 7.

In “Murder in a Small Town,” Warner portrays Richard Buscombe, a devoted father caught in a murder examination. His character becomes a prime suspect after his ex-wife is killed shortly after returning to town.
“Still heartbroken years after the split, Richard wears his anger and pain on his sleeve, but his only goal in life is to keep his daughter safe,” a description of the episode reveals.

A Glowing Performance Remembered
Showrunner Ian Weir fondly recalled working with Warner shortly before his untimely death. Weir described Warner’s performance as “fiercely protective of his daughter,” adding that it “just glows with integrity.”
“He found levels that I hadn’t imagined,” weir said. “We were really delighted when Malcolm agreed to join us as a guest star – and entirely thrilled by the experience of working with him. he was such a leader and a gentleman. It’s such a terrible, tragic loss.”
