Yeferson Cossio, a popular Instagram star from Colombia, recently underwent an excruciating surgery to add six inches to his height, costing him an estimated $175,000. The surgery, which is considered one of the most painful procedures, involved breaking his bones and inserting a metal rod to achieve the desired length.
Cossio, who stands at 5-foot-8, underwent the lower limb lengthening surgery to achieve a height of 6 feet. The intense procedure involved doctors breaking his bones and using an external device to slowly lengthen the gap multiple times a day, a process which took 152 days or 6 months to complete.
The surgery, which is purely for “aesthetic” purposes, is becoming increasingly popular among social media influencers. In recent years, other individuals have spent thousands of dollars to undergo similar leg-lengthening procedures to achieve added height, despite the immense pain and lengthy recovery process involved.
After his surgery, Cossio will undergo physical therapy treatments to adjust to walking with his new legs. However, the Instagram star has expressed satisfaction with his new height, despite the high cost and intense pain of the surgery.
The growing trend of leg-lengthening surgeries raises questions about the extremes that individuals are willing to go to change their appearance, as well as the ethical considerations surrounding the painful and expensive procedures.
