Manturov admitted the continued shortage of cars at the beginning of 2022

The shortage of cars in Russia is likely to remain in the first half of 2022 due to a shortage of electronic components. This was stated by the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov in an interview with the TV channel “Russia 24”.

“Today we have a certain shortage of automotive products for consumers, and, probably, it will persist for the first half of next year. This is primarily due to the fact that there is a restriction on the supply of auto components, primarily the electronic component – the very chips, ”the minister said.

The key problem for the global and Russian car market is now the shortage of microchips. After the recovery in demand for cars in 2021, the industry lacks electronic components, which is why supplies are limited, and some car factories are forced to stop, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said earlier. The shortage of chips will affect the market situation at least until the end of this year, and according to some estimates, the whole of 2022, the AEB predicted.
