Bundesbank Vice President Claudia Buch sees more risks for financial institutions.

Frankfurt The Bundesbank warned early on of a price bubble on the real estate market. From the point of view of the central bank, this danger has not yet been averted. “Prices in Germany have dropped somewhat, but many properties are still overvalued,” says Vice President Claudia Buch in an interview with the Handelsblatt.

Buch is one of the two candidates for the post of head of ECB banking supervision. She does not want to comment on her chances in the process, but she does talk about how she would improve European banking supervision. From her point of view, the failure of the Silicon Valley Bank showed how important it is for bank supervisors to intervene early and decisively when they identify deficits.
