March 25th. The world celebrates life from its conception

by time news

This March 25, different countries and people of all religious denominations will celebrate the Day of the Unborn Child, whose origin is the Catholic Feast of the Annunciation, when Jesus Christ was conceived in the womb of Mary. Little by little, the celebration spread throughout the world, where pro-life groups are currently raising awareness about the importance of respecting the life of the unborn child from conception.. Days before, the IACHR debated a case promoted by the abortion lobby.

The pioneer country in celebrating the day officially was El Salvador, where 30 years ago the date to celebrate the unborn was decreed. Argentina, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica and Guatemala are some of the countries where the day is commemorated, which aims to protect the lives of all unborn children, from their conception.

In Guatemala, pro-life activists held the IV Walk for Life and the Family in Chimaltenango on March 19. Hundreds of people of all ages and creeds participated in this activity, grouped in defense of life, against euthanasia and in commemoration of the Day of the Unborn Child.

The network of the Family Matters Association participated in this activity, which on March 23 presented an Amicus Curiae before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR), where the case known as Beatriz is currently being debated, which could have dire consequences for the defense of life in Latin American countries whose laws protect life from conception.

Beatriz case, before IACHR

The representatives of the Salvadoran state affirmed before the IACHR that the outcome of this case has the potential to radically change the course of protection for the unborn on the continent. “The position that the court assumes will be final,” said one of the lawyers for the Salvadoran state.

For the first time, the IACHR will specifically address the prohibition of abortion as a violation of rights, Salvadoran feminist Morena Herrera told international media. However, the same human rights convention highlights in its article 4:

“Everyone has the right to have their life respected. This right will be protected by law and, in general, from the moment of conception. No one can be deprived of life arbitrarily”

As the representatives of the Salvadoran state highlighted, the convention recognizes the condition of “person” of the unborn and it is noteworthy that the pro-abortion activists who brought the case before the court refer to the girl Lilany, who lived five hours and She received this name from her mother, like “the fetus”, “the anancephalic product” and other names that deprive the little girl of a human identity.

In an AFI live with Neydy Casillas, from the Global Center for Human Rights, it is mentioned that this case endangers the right to life on the continent. This is another aspect, since pro-abortion feminists consider that the right of women to abort should be privileged.

Who was Beatriz and why did she become an emblem of feminists?

“Beatriz” is a pseudonym to name a young Salvadoran who suffered from lupus and various conditions derived from this disease. In 2012, in her early 20s, she had her first child, with various complications.

Despite medical warnings, the young woman decided to get pregnant again in 2013, and shortly after she was informed that the baby had a congenital malformation called anencephaly. It is there when the abortionists appear, who according to Neydy Casillas, constituted in legal defense of the young woman, were in charge of sowing fear in the mother, arguing in favor of abortion, which Beatriz requested from a Salvadoran court through an amparo denied on May 28, 2013.

On June 3, Beatriz had pain similar to contractions and underwent a cesarean section, giving birth to a girl with anancephaly whom she named Lilany, and she lived for five hours. According to the feminists and the information on the IACHR case: “the anancephalic fetus died five hours later.”

However, Casillas argues, for Beatriz it was not “a fetus”, but her daughter whom she named, buried and cried, but above all, she was able to hold those five hours in her arms.

Although the abortionists constantly maintained that Beatriz’s life was in danger due to the pregnancy, the young woman died in 2017 as a result of an accident.

In short, this is the tragic case that the abortion lobby intends to use as an emblem through “strategic litigation” to influence the IACHR to pressure Latin American countries to legalize abortion.

Within six months, the IACHR will have a resolution on this case, in which diverse interests come together that have a common element: for those who hold them, the unborn are not human beings and therefore should not have the right to life if his mother decides so. This, despite the fact that years ago, the same convention established the right of the unborn to live and be protected, like any other person.
