Insoumise France reserves its response
The President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun Pivet and the President of the Senate Gérard Larcher called on Tuesday “all those who recognize themselves in the values of our Republic” to participate on Sunday in a “major civic march” against anti-Semitism. An event to which Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, of the National Rally (RN), quickly declared that they would attend.
La France insoumise announced through its coordinator Manuel Bompard that it was reserving its response. “Of course, when it comes to combating racism, anti-Semitism (…) I am always on the side of those who fight against this discrimination,” he indicated, before adding that he would be “ incongruous to participate in a demonstration of this nature in the presence of the National Rally.”
The leader of the rebels had also affirmed that he would not participate in a demonstration in which Marine Le Pen’s party would take part, after the first secretary of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure had proposed on Sunday a gathering of “all political forces” against anti-Semitism. “Personally I will never go to a demonstration with the RN,” he reacted.
