Longford Mourns the Passing of Margaret “Maggie” Hand

A beloved member of the Longford community, Margaret “Maggie” Hand, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 8, 2025. Her passing marks a notable loss for those who knew her, and arrangements have been made for family and friends to pay their respects.

Margaret, formerly of Slatta, Co. Roscommon, and a resident of Springlawn, Longford, was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Bridget Hand, and sisters Elizabeth and Sandra, as well as her niece, Denise.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Pauric Hand, and son, Adrian. The family circle also includes her sisters, Mary, Christine, Alice, and Claire, and brothers, Joe, Mickey, Martin, and james. Her mother-in-law, Mary-Ann Hand, along with numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews, also mourn her loss.

Funeral Arrangements and Remembrance

Reposing will take place at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81), on Monday, November 10th, from 5:30 PM, with prayers concluding at 8:00 PM. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, November 11th, at 11:00 AM in St. Mel’s Cathedral. Following the Mass, Margaret will be laid to rest in Clonbonny cemetery, Lanesboro.
