NOTICIACRISTIANA.COM. – Mark Driscoll, known for his controversies, was expelled of the Strongest Men Conference. Driscoll, who resigned in 2014 from the pastorate of Mars Hill Church, took the stage at the Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield, Missouri.
Driscoll deviated from his planned message to rebuke what he described as the “Jezebel Spirit” present at the event. He was quickly recalled and removed from the platform by John Lindell, senior pastor of James River Church, which hosted the annual men’s event.
Driscoll urged men at the conference to oppose LGBTQ identities. He described them as demonic and “the false image of the mind.” Driscoll spoke for several minutes, beginning with a condemnation of the multiple sexual identities that have become ubiquitous in Western culture. He then directed his speech toward the start of the Strongest Men’s Conference, which he saw as morally and spiritually problematic.
Driscoll: “The Spirit of Jezebel opened our event”
The segment Driscoll was referring to came at the beginning of the conference. This occurred when “America’s Got Talent” stuntman Alex Magala took the stage wearing a leather suit. At the beginning of his act, he took off his leather shirt. He then performed acrobatic moves on a metal pole in the middle of the stage before swallowing a sword.
“I want to be very careful with this and that’s not what I mean,” Driscoll continued. “But the Spirit of Jezebel was already here. The Spirit of Jezebel opened our event.”
It was at that point that Lindell interrupted Driscoll. He told the preacher that he was “out of line” and to stop talking: “You’re done!”
At that moment, Lindell regained the platform as the silent listening of the crowd turned into a calamitous uproar. The men could be heard shouting, “Bring him back!”, referring to Driscoll.
