Mark Piros-Read Returns to Malmö FF as Head of Performance
A highly regarded performance specialist, Mark Piros-Read, has rejoined Swedish football club Malmö FF, taking on the pivotal role of Head of Performance. This appointment marks a return to familiar territory for the Englishman, who previously spent nine years with the club before a stint in the English Premier League.
Piros-Read initially joined Malmö FF in 2015, beginning his tenure as a physical trainer within the esteemed youth academy. His dedication and expertise led to a promotion in August 2020, granting him overall responsibility for the physical training regimen of the men’s first team. Following his successful period with the Swedish club, he transitioned to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
“I am really happy to be back,” Piros-Read stated. “It’s a great city and a great club, which of course I hold close to my heart.” He emphasized his positive experiences during his time with Wolves, adding, “Of course, I bring with me some new parts that I can contribute to develop the department further.”
The return of Piros-Read is expected to build upon the existing strengths of Malmö FF’s medical and physical training teams. He intends to integrate new methodologies while simultaneously acknowledging and continuing the “fantastic work already done” by the current staff.
The club has undergone changes in the two years since Piros-Read’s departure. While some personnel remain consistent, adjustments have been made to the coaching staff, presenting an opportunity for Piros-Read to forge new working relationships. “A lot has happened here during the two years I’ve been away,” he noted. “Some staff are still there but there have also been some changes on the coaching side, so it will be fun to get to know some new faces.”
Piros-Read’s appointment signals Malmö FF’s commitment to optimizing player performance and maintaining a competitive edge in Swedish and European football. His blend of experience, both domestically and internationally, positions him as a key figure in the club’s future success.
