Markel Brown’s future at Basketball Girona is up in the air. The American escort, who arrived last summer to make Kam Taylor forget, has not yet found his role in Fontajau and, in parallel with that, in Italy they place it back in Varese, where there was already a militia the previous year. They would offer him a contract until 2025 in order to convince him and take him away from relegation.

Brown visited this afternoon, accompanied by Juani Marcos, the users of the Fundació Els Joncs from Sarrià de Ter. There he has paid attention to the press and has not resolved many doubts. “If it were up to me, I would be in Girona all season, but that’s life and basketball and you can’t control everything. We’ll see what happens”, said the American. Markel Brown has also said that “it is not my decision. I dedicate myself to doing the role that is asked of me. When I signed in the summer, I wanted to say that my future was in Girona. I’m focused on the day to day, which is here, we’ll see what happens in the future».

Regarding the team’s situation, he pointed out that “we have not been tough enough, we have to be a more aggressive team and, unfortunately, we have come up against the rivals. We have to go up. Many times we play complicated matches and get good results. I think things will change in the next games.” He also had good words for the visit to Les Joncs: “It’s always nice to give back to others for the support they’ve given us on the track. It’s for a good cause. They come to support us in Fontajau, so the least we can do to repay them is to come here”, he explained.

For his part, Juani Marcos has acknowledged that the ten weeks he has been out of the team due to injury (the operation on a finger and a muscle problem) affected him morally. “I was in bed for a few days,” he assured. But now, already recovered, he faces the future with optimism. “I didn’t expect to play so many minutes on Sunday against Joventut because I had been out for a long time. But I felt good. We go game by game and we want to keep fighting as long as possible to go to the Cup”.

During the visit to the Joncs, in an event sponsored by the Fundació la Caixa, the two players of Básquet Girona got to know first-hand the activities that take place there. After strolling through different branches of the center, they met dozens of users in the multipurpose room. There they answered their questions, even more poignant than the usual ones from journalists. “When do you get paid?”, “Why do you lose so many games?”, “How is your day to day?” or “Where would you like to travel”, were some of the questions they had to deal with more or less dribble. So we learned that neither Marcos nor Brown eat breakfast, that they go straight to training and then have lunch and dinner; that the Argentine would like to travel to the United States and the American to Dubai; and that they train six days a week, plus matches. Marcos plays PlayStation in his spare time; Brown is a bit more of a foodie and likes to go to restaurants.
