Marlaska travels to Morocco on Friday to discuss security matters

Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Minister of the Interior, travels to Rabat on Friday, according to Le360, where he will meet with his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit

According to media from the neighboring country, the working meeting will focus on bilateral security cooperation in various areas, including the fight against terrorism, illegal immigration, drug trafficking and cross-border crime.

Marlaska is accompanied by the general director of International Relations and Immigration, Elena Garzón; the General Commissioner of Immigration and Borders of the National Police, Julián Ávila; as well as the head of the Border Command and Maritime Police in command of the Civil Guard, Juan Luis Pérez.

“Security cooperation between the two countries is at its peak. The security services of the two kingdoms have given the most eloquent proof of this with the joint operations carried out recently against drug trafficking and immigration networks illegal, in particular,” the same media emphasize.

This is the second official visit by a Spanish minister since the establishment of the new Pedro Sánchez government. Last December, José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, was on a working visit to Rabat where he was able to meet with several senior Moroccan officials.
