Martha Stewart, 84, Reveals Her Elaborate Gym Routine: “There’s Men”

A commitment to looking polished, even during a workout, drives Martha Stewart’s famously disciplined schedule. The lifestyle mogul, 84, detailed her extensive pre-gym routine, which includes a full shower and makeup application, citing the desire to make a good impression.

Martha Stewart is renowned for her dedication to maintaining a vibrant and active lifestyle. During a recent appearance on Amazon Live’s In Bed with Paige DeSorbo series, streamed on January 26, the entrepreneur revealed the surprising extent of her preparation for a morning workout.

“I go to the gym every morning at 6:30, so I have to be out of the house at 6:15,” Stewart explained to host Paige DeSorbo. “I set my alarm for 5:45, that gives me time to take a shower, make the cappuccino for me and my driver.” When asked if she showers before the gym, Stewart emphatically replied, “I never go to the gym without showering. I would never go anywhere, I would not leave the second floor of my house without showering.”

But the preparation doesn’t stop at hygiene. Stewart also applies makeup before hitting the treadmill, including foundation with SPF, cheek color, and lip gloss. “And I look really good,” she added with a characteristic flourish. “I have to because there’s men in the gym. And there’s other people that might see me, and I do not want to look awful.”

This dedication to appearance comes as Stewart continues to address speculation about her youthful complexion. She recently dismissed rumors of plastic surgery in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. “Everybody insists that I’ve had plastic surgery and I have not ever had plastic surgery,” she stated. “I’m the most honest person on earth — but if they won’t take my word for it, I don’t know. How can they not take my word for it? That’s the truth!”

Instead, Stewart attributes her glow to a diligent skincare regimen, prominently featuring her recently launched A3O™ Elemental Night Cream ($165) from Elm Biosciences. The product, the third offering from the brand which debuted in September 2025, is reportedly yielding visible results.

Stewart even pointed to a recent Instagram selfie, posted on January 12, as evidence of the cream’s efficacy. “I took that picture right at the reservoir that adjoins my property and the light was so beautiful, that’s just daylight and it looks so good,” she said. “But no retouching. You can’t see any scar and no lines. I mean, hardly any imperfections in my skin.” She continued, “That’s this stuff. This stuff is really working. You have to remember my age too — and I look pretty good for my age… But no plastic surgery.”

. Ultimately, Martha Stewart’s commitment to a polished presentation, combined with a focus on skincare and a healthy lifestyle, underscores her enduring influence as a lifestyle icon.
