The spokesman of the Election Commission of Iran, Mohsen Islami, said that the candidate of the reformist wing, Masoud Pezeshkian, won in the second round of elections to become the ninth president of the Islamic Republic of Iran since its establishment.
He added: “Masoud Pezeshkian received 16,384,403 votes, while his competitor, Saeed Jalili, received 13,538,179 votes.”
Islami revealed that 30,573,931 votes were counted, and the voting percentage reached 49.8%, surpassing the voting percentage in the first round.
