Matthias Opdenhövel will return to “Schlag den Star” a day later than planned. The show is postponed due to competing programming.

The next edition of “Schlag den Star” will be broadcast later, including Matthias Opdenhövel’s comeback as host of the game show. ProSieben reported this to X. The broadcaster explains the program change: “The next edition of ‘Schlag den Star’ comes on Sunday, June 2nd. We are postponing the live show by one day because the CL final is on Saturday, June 1st. And “German participation is not unlikely. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for both FC Bayern and BVB in the semi-finals.”

After 13 years back in the “old living room”

At the beginning of April, ProSieben announced that Matthias Opdenhövel would return to the “Schlag den …” cosmos. “It is an honor and a homecoming at the same time,” said the moderator in a statement. “I can’t wait to be back in my old living room after 13 years and I’m looking forward to all the celebrity pairings and crazy games,” he was quoted as saying.

Opdenhövel moderated “Schlag den Raab” from 2006 to 2011 and “Schlag den Star” in 2010. He was followed by Steven Gätjen from 2011 to 2013, and Elton had hosted the popular show since 2016. In an Instagram post, the latter was extremely disappointed with his departure from the show and asserted that he had not given up “this wonderful show voluntarily”.
