His works and those of four other Guatemalans will be exhibited until November 24, 2024 in the Central Pavilion of the Biennale as part of the international exhibition “Foreigners Everywhere”, curated by the Brazilian Adriano Pedrosa.

Five pieces of oil on canvas by the Mayan artist are on display. These works depict empowered women, aware of their own power, evoking the essence of the ancient Mayan goddesses of healing, fertility and weaving. This is the first time that a Guatemalan exhibition is presented at this important international event. What a chilero!

In addition to the outstanding presence of Paula Nicho Cúmez, Guatemala is present at the Venice Biennale with works by four other national artists. At 69 years old, the artist has exhibited her art nationally and internationally in countries such as Mexico, the United States, Japan and Canada. She is recognized for her ability to fuse Kaqchikel tradition with contemporary art, creating works that reflect Guatemala’s rich cultural heritage.
