Mayte Gómez Molina has been awarded the ‘Miguel Hernández’ National Young Poetry Prize, corresponding to the year 2023, for her work ‘Los Trabajos sin Hércules’, at the proposal of the jury meeting today. The prize, awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, is worth 30,000 euros.

The jury highlighted his work “for the poetic power and musicality of verses that resonate in the unconscious. ‘The Works without Hercules’ is a memorable collection of poems whose aphoristic vocation leads to flashes of sensitivity and reflection on the present.

Likewise, the jury noted that “the author, with an unusual freshness, revisits classical mythology, integrating tradition into a masterful x-ray of the problems of everyday life.”

Furthermore, the jury highlighted that “in this collection of poems there is a recovery of poetry of social commitment. His ability to articulate the work as the axis of the emotional scheme of the contemporary subject and, at the same time, to suggest hope beyond anguish stands out. “Mayte Gómez Molina retraces the myth and sings through the contradictions of today.”
