Ohio Dentist and Wife’s Murder: Ex-Husband Indicted in Shocking Slayings
A former vascular surgeon has been indicted in connection with the brutal murders of ohio dentist Spencer Tepe and his wife, monique Tepe, bringing a measure of closure to a case that has gripped the community. Michael McKee, 39, faces four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated robbery, stemming from the December 30th deaths of the couple, discovered after a concerned coworker requested a welfare check.
The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of alleged abuse and threats, painting a picture of a volatile relationship between McKee and Monique Tepe prior to thier divorce in 2017. According to prosecutors, McKee allegedly used a gun with a muffler attached during the slayings, as detailed in a grand jury indictment obtained by People on January 16. Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant also reported that “multiple weapons” were found on McKee’s property during a recent search.
The Tepes’ bodies were found upstairs in their Ohio home, while their two young children and the family dog were thankfully unharmed. The initial alarm was raised when Spencer Tepe, 37, unexpectedly failed to appear for work and was unreachable by phone for several hours, prompting the coworker to contact authorities.
Family members have described a long-standing fear of McKee, alleging years of torment and abuse. “Monique was very vocal about being terrified of this guy [until her death],” Rob Misleh, the couple’s brother-in-law, told People. He further elaborated on Good Morning America that McKee would “torment” her throughout their marriage, adding,”myself and many others were well aware of,kind of,the negative impact that he had on her. And the abuse that he put her through, the torment that he put her through. She was willing to do anything to get out of there.”
Authorities were able to focus on McKee as a suspect after neighborhood surveillance footage showed his vehicle arriving at the Tepes’ home shortly before the murders and departing soon after. Another family member stated they “all expected” McKee to be connected to the crimes, but refrained from public comment to avoid hindering the investigation. “We are all breathing a bit of a sigh of relief, because they got him,” they added.
The shocking nature of the alleged crimes has left even those who knew McKee reeling. Gera-Lind Kolarik, a neighbour, expressed disbelief to ABC 7 Chicago, stating, “I sat down with this man and talked with him at the pool, barbecuing, about what a beautiful day it is indeed, and then he turns out to be [charged as] a killer.
