McKinney Man Charged with Tampering with Evidence After Woman’s Body Found at Home

On Sunday morning, McKinney Police responded to a tip about a possible body at a home in the 600 block of Pearson Avenue. Upon securing a search warrant, officers encountered 42-year-old Chad Christopher Stevens at the residence.

Residents in the neighborhood were shocked by the police presence and subsequent arrest. Carolina Murillo, a neighbor, described the scene as police blocked off roads and the SWAT team called out commands to Stevens across the street.

A neighbor captured the moment of the arrest on video, showing police taking Stevens into custody and removing evidence from the home. During the search, detectives discovered the body of 35-year-old Heather Louise Schwab.

Stevens was arrested at the scene and charged with tampering with evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse. According to information from a news release, Schwab had been reported missing, but details were not confirmed on Sunday.

Murillo, who had interacted with Stevens in the past, described him as ‘awkward’ and always outside. She also mentioned seeing another woman around Stevens a few months ago, but she hasn’t been seen since.

The investigation into Schwab’s death is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Monte Robertson at 972-547-2724. The incident has left neighbors in shock and the community on edge as they process the grim discovery in their seemingly quiet neighborhood.
