Meat Theft Targets Truck on Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia
A brazen theft targeting a parked tractor-trailer on Roosevelt Boulevard has prompted a police investigation. The incident, which occurred early Sunday morning, saw thieves make off with a significant quantity of meat before being partially interrupted by the truck driver and law enforcement.
According to authorities, the theft took place around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, along the 9700 block of Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia. A truck driver, sleeping inside his vehicle, was awakened by shaking as individuals began looting the trailer.
“The driver was alerted by the movement of the truck,” a senior official stated. “He observed two individuals actively unloading boxes of meat and transferring them into two separate vehicles.”
Before officers could arrive on the scene, the suspects fled in their vehicles, successfully evading immediate capture. Initial reports indicated that approximately 40 boxes of meat were stolen. However, police were able to recover eight of those boxes on the same block shortly after the incident.
Investigators are currently focusing their efforts on identifying the perpetrators, describing them as two men operating Nissan vehicles. As of Monday, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
