New Delhi ∙ A BJP spokesperson has claimed that social worker Medha Patkar will contest as the chief ministerial candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Gujarat elections. Mumbai BJP spokesperson Suresh Nakhua’s claim comes when everyone is looking at who will be the chief ministerial candidate.

“According to my information, Arvind Kejriwal will announce anti-India, anti-development and anti-Gujarat Medha Patkar as the Chief Minister of Gujarat” – Suresh Nakhua tweeted.

Gujarat assembly elections will be held in December this year. Medha Patkar contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on an AAP ticket. Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday called Medha Patkar an ‘urban Naxal’ with political support, creating a new controversy.

“When Narmada river water reached Kutch, we should also remember those who suffered for 50 years not to get this water to Kutch. We know who are the urban Naxals who opposed the Narmada dam project,” Patel said while addressing a crowd in Bhuj district in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
