In the past few months, the acting star has had to cope with repeated health setbacks. Now Fritz Wepper is supposed to wrestle with death.
Last fall, Fritz Wepper had to say goodbye to his brother Elmar Wepper. The actor died unexpectedly at the age of 79. Now there is also supposed to be great concern for the “For Heaven’s Sake” star. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, Fritz Wepper has been in a hospice in Upper Bavaria for several days.
Not only did the loss of his brother take a toll on the 82-year-old, he himself had to cope with numerous health setbacks in recent years. It wasn’t until the end of 2023 that he was in the hospital due to blood poisoning. He had previously battled cancer.
Medication is no longer supposed to help Fritz Wepper
According to “Bild”, he is considered to have completed his treatment and is no longer receiving medication. Although he is mentally fit, can make phone calls and is happy to receive visitors, his body is extremely weak. The 82-year-old, who was recently in a wheelchair, could no longer get up on his own.
Wife Susanne Kellermann is currently not leaving the TV star’s side. The 49-year-old has been afraid of her husband’s death for a long time. “I don’t know how many times I’ve said goodbye to Fritz in the past few years. Hoping and fearing also takes a lot of energy,” she told “Bild” in the winter of 2023. The two have been together for many years and since 2020 married. They have a daughter together, twelve-year-old Filippa.
Fritz Wepper started his acting career in the mid-1950s. His most famous role was that of assistant Harry in the crime series “Derrick”, and he was also known as Mayor Wolfgang Wöller from the ARD television series “Um Himmels Willen”.
