Albion Wrestling Faces Tough Competition at NWCA National Duals

Albion College’s men’s wrestling team recently competed in the highly competitive National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Britons finished the weekend with a 1-3 record in the Division III bracket, demonstrating resilience against a field of strong opponents. Despite the challenging competition, individual wrestlers showcased impressive performances, highlighted by a narrow loss to New York University and a decisive victory over Dubuque.
Britons Battle Through Division III Field
The NWCA National Duals featured 261 duals across Division I, II, III, and NAIA, attracting top wrestling programs from across the nation. Roanoke ultimately claimed the Division III title, defeating Wartburg in a closely contested final. Albion faced a demanding schedule, testing the team’s mettle against some of the best Division III programs.
Brown Shines at Heavyweight
A standout performer for Albion was heavyweight Bode Brown, who went undefeated throughout the competition, securing a 3-0 record. Brown’s dominance was particularly impressive, as he won all his matches despite not competing against Concordia (MN). His performance provided a significant boost to the Britons’ efforts.
Eberhard Leads at 141
Leading the team at 141 pounds was Koen Eberhard, who posted a strong 3-1 record. Eberhard secured victories against opponents from NYU, Concordia (MN), and Dubuque, proving to be a consistent point-scorer for Albion.
