MEP Anne-Sophie Pelletier, excluded on Monday by the delegation of European elected officials from La France insoumise (LFI) for harassment, announced on Friday December 8 in a press releasefile a complaint for aggravated defamation and denounce “undemocratic practices” party.

Ms. Pelletier, who learned “on reading the LFI press release” the reasons for his exclusion, “strongly contests the serious accusations brought against him”, it is specified in the press release sent to Agence France-Presse by his lawyer, Sabrina Goldman. A complaint for aggravated public defamation with the creation of a civil party will be filed in the coming days at the Paris judicial court, Ms. Goldman also added.

The delegation of “rebellious” European deputies announced on Monday that they were excluding Anne-Sophie Pelletier due to a “harassing, inappropriate and aggressive behavior” towards thirteen parliamentary assistants since 2019.

Recalling that she was “totally cleared by the presidency of the European Parliament” November 16, 2021 “after an investigation by the institution’s anti-harassment committee”the press release “denounces the undemocratic practices of La France insoumise”. He deplores the absence of“a contradictory debate which would have allowed her to respond to the unfounded accusations of which she is once again the victim”.

Similarities with the situation of Raquel Garrido

“Anne-Sophie Pelletier believes that her ouster is linked to her choice to vote in favor of the European Parliament resolution of October 19 aimed at condemning Hamas after the October 7 attack against Israel, to which LFI was opposed. The MEP had already expressed her disagreement with the political line of La France insoumise on several occasions and had been pressured to comply with voting instructions without questioning them.says the press release.

Ms. Pelletier sees similarities between her situation and that of the LFI deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis Raquel Garrido, sanctioned in November by her group in the National Assembly. He was accused of having harmed “for the good collective functioning of the parliamentary group” par “the dissemination of false information in the press” or “the questioning and ad hominem denigration of several members of the group”. Ms. Garrido was also accused of having “humiliated employees” to the Assembly.

Raquel Garrido claims to have been sanctioned for having expressed her disagreement on “the way in which La France insoumise has been run for a year”.
