Meta must be working on augmented reality glasses, claims website

by time news

Meta is expected to launch its first full augmented reality glasses in 2027. The information was revealed through the augmented and virtual reality hardware roadmap that the company shared with its employees, according to The Verge.

As much as Meta had plans to launch other models of glasses with similar functions before, the supposed models scheduled for 2027 should be equipped with several innovative features.

The glasses must be able to project avatars through high definition holograms, in a fusion between the real and the virtual. The “Innovation” line should be the first to introduce these features, but there is still no accurate information about the official release date.

In addition to these projects, Meta is also analyzing other devices with Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) functions, which should be launched before the glasses.

  • Also in 2023, Meta should continue the Ray-Ban Store line, in partnership with Luxottica. It should also launch the Quest 3 headset, which promises twice the performance of its predecessor;
  • As early as 2024, the company plans to release a VR headset, with the name “Ventura”;
  • For the following year, Meta should launch the third generation of Ray-Ban Stories.

The manufacturer is also expected to launch headphones with VR and AR functions in the coming years – but it will not be the only one. Rumors point out that Apple is also working on a mixed reality headset – which should be launched during the WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference), which will take place in June. The headphones are expected to cost around US$ 3,000 – but Apple is also expected to launch an “economical” version, with improved features.
