Mettur dam water level begins to drop – Dinamani

by time news

The water level in the Mettur dam fell to 8,058 cubic feet per second on Friday morning from 8,464 cubic feet on Thursday morning due to declining rainfall in the Cauvery catchment area.

The amount of water that will be opened for irrigation in case of low water level has been increased to 10,000 cubic feet per second from 8 pm last night. Public Works Department officials said yesterday that the water level of the Mettur Dam would start to drop further as the amount of water being released for irrigation is higher than the amount of water coming into the dam.

The water level of the Mettur dam rose to 118.11 feet this morning from 117.92 feet yesterday morning. The water balance of the dam is 90.48 TMC. 10,000 cubic feet per second of water is being released from the dam for delta irrigation.
