Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who is in Brussels on a working visit, had a meeting with EU Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhey.

The interlocutors discussed the programs developed under the EU economic and investment plan and emphasized on both sides the focus of joint efforts to ensure their launch as soon as possible.

The Deputy Prime Minister presented to the EU commissioner the works carried out by the RA government in the direction of individual landmarks. The parties both emphasized the progress recorded in the development and implementation of the programs.

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan also had a meeting with Lawrence Meredith, Director of Eastern Neighborhood Affairs of the General Directorate of Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission. The interlocutors referred to the current discussions with European financial institutions within the framework of projects under the Economic and Investment Plan, which are related to the development of road and digital infrastructures, support to small and medium enterprises, as well as the development of Syunik region and increasing access to education.

The main directions of cooperation planned as a result of the approval of the new bilateral multi-year cooperation framework were also discussed.

From the point of view of the development of RA-EU relations, the implementation process of the Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement was particularly important. In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that key reforms are being implemented in a number of areas within the framework of the GCC, and the Agreement remains an integral part of the Government’s reform agenda.
