A highly anticipated biopic about the life of Michael Jackson is set to hit theaters, with Universal Pictures releasing the first images and announcing an April 23, 2026, US release date. The film promises an intimate portrayal of the “King of Pop’s” journey to global superstardom and lasting legacy.

According to a company release, the biopic, simply titled “Michael,” will feature Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the iconic performer, in the leading role. Jaafar is the son of Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s brother and a founding member of the legendary Jackson 5.

The production boasts a team of acclaimed industry professionals. The screenplay is penned by John Logan, the celebrated writer behind films like “The Aviator,” “Skyfall,” and “Spectre.” Directing the film is Antoine Fuqua, known for his work on “Training Day,” “King Arthur,” and “The Equalizer” trilogy.
