“Mickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it’s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help,” jones told The Hollywood Reporter regarding the outpouring of support for the campaign.
Rourke’s career has spanned decades, beginning with early roles in films like Barry Levinson’s Diner, Francis Ford Coppola’s Rumble Fish, and 9 Weeks alongside Kim Basinger. After a period of diminished visibility, the actor experienced a critically important career resurgence with roles in Sin City, Iron man 2, and his Academy Award-nominated performance in The Wrestler.
